I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and spent a lot of my childhood in the Hebridean Islands of Scotland. Life in the Highlands and Islands was a great influence in my growing years. As a child, I was given a large multi-coloured woollen pom-pom by my mother at Christmas and imagined this to be an alien being from the imaginary planet, Antrobi, which orbits around the star, Vega and called her ‘YESL’. Since then, the story evolved in my mind until writing it as my debut novel.

I studied Geology at Edinburgh University and was a member of the Astronomical Society of Edinburgh with a keen interest in recent discoveries of ‘Exo-planets’ orbiting other stars. I now live in Perth, Western Australia.
